Vintage Wedding Inspiration: Rust Accents + Handmade Details in Atlanta, Georgia
I recently participated in the vendor category of wedding invitations for an amazing event, The Big Fake Wedding Atlanta. It took place this past August at the Atlanta History Center and revolved around a wedding vow renewal ceremony and reception for a sweet couple already married and in love, Rebecca and Andy. It was really cool to see all of the participating vendors in action, just as they would be at a real wedding. This event was the perfect alternative to a bridal show; it was interactive and genuine, which made it a really great fit for vendors and guests alike. (The event was also published in Ruffled Blog!)
Below are some wonderful images captured from the event from the talented photographers that participated: Kandi Daniel Studios, Aline Marin Photography, and Square 8 Studio. It was great to interact with these awesome vendors and to get to know fellow Atlanta creatives.
Side note: I may or may not have felt like the stars aligned when I realized that my booth neighbors were also huge Game of Thrones fans. Thank you to Aline and her husband Mihai for all of the awesome GoT convos that took place over the course of the event. :D
The Invitation Suite
Rust Accents + Hand-drawn Map
This invitation suite was inspired by the mood board provided by The Big Fake Wedding - it was called "A Little Rusty" and contained the beautiful color palette below. I really wanted to weave in natural elements and a bit of Atlanta History, since it was taking place at the Atlanta History Center after all.
I truly had a blast creating this hand-drawn custom map. I got to relearn my own city all over again. Drawing the beautiful architecture of the Swan House was just a bonus!
The Handmade Details - Wedding Invitation Suite
I did have to add in a liiiiittle personal touch though...and that was in the wax seal (pictured above.) I used my very own (favorite) Hogwarts wax seal stamper to create these lovely little guys. I am a die-hard Harry Potter fan, and it just felt right. (Have you determined yet that I am also a gigantic nerd? It's fine, I've accepted it.)
One other personal touch I really enjoyed as an addition to the invitation suite was a quote by Pablo Neruda; "Of all fires, love is the only inexhaustible one." How awesome is that? As a lover of poetry with a BA in English, (don't judge my grammar) this was a fun little meaningful element that I felt perfectly complimented the tone of the event.
Cue: "Signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours!" Basically, this was printed on my very favorite handmade cotton paper (thank you Fabulous Fancy Pants for making my paper-loving heart skip a beat,) then wrapped in a beautiful cream-toned silk ribbon and sealed with a darker + moody Hogwarts wax seal. The custom monogrammed hand-drawn laurel crest at the top was a no-brainer.
Oh, and if you're eyeing that hand-painted watercolor food label and your mouth is watering just thinking about what it tasted like, you are "my people" - food lovers unite! I had the awesome opportunity to work with Nona from Sizzling Peach to create food labels for all of the deliciousness she brought to the table (quite literally.) It was a hungry couple of days creating labels for the world's most delicious menu, but the collaboration was magic!
The Venue + Day-Of Details
Below are a few more additional images; to see more, please visit the features + event highlights on Ruffled Blog and The Big Fake Wedding's blog. There were so many talented vendors that came together to make it happen - the energy was awesome and the incredible images captured of this day definitely reflect that.

Lastly, a little glimpse of my cozy little table setup; also referred to as "The Tunnel of Love."
